Carrie (2013)

"You must renounce this power, you must give it up! You must never use it!"

Filmology Rating: 2.25 out of 4

I have never quite understood the desire to remake a film that is fine as is and that could be considered a classic; nothing good can come from doing so.  The 2013 Carrie is a glaring example of such a film.  The latest remake adds absolutely nothing that the original did not have, nor did it improve anything that may have been lacking.  I will give a bit of credit to the stars, Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, as they were convincing in their performances as Carrie and Margaret White.    My main issue with the film is the same as it was for the original; I do not care for or connect with any of the characters.  Many of the high school students, Chris in particular, are horrible towards Carrie and do not present any redeeming qualities.  The visual and special effect quality of Carrie is also disappointing, as it looks like it could have been made ten to fifteen years ago.  You will not miss anything by not seeing 2013’s Carrie.
