Legend
/"We're talking about being gangsters, that's what we are!"
Filmology Rating: 2.75 out of 4
One of the only things that will make this movie "Legend" is the acting of Tom Hardy in this film. He portrays both of the Kray brothers in this film and he is excellent. Just another role that shows why he is one of the best actors in this generation. He plays both Kray brothers in this film; one brother being a suave, easy talking, leader while the other brother is this mentally unstable and violent. It was so cool to see him play both of these different characters and to do both of them so well. A brief plot description would be that these two brothers are up and coming gangster leaders in London. While they try and gain sole ownership of the London streets, the normal brother Reggie Kray also tries to balance relationship and a normal life on the side. It however does not work and much because of his brother keeping him in the gangster life. It is a great portrayal of how much influence family can have on you even when it can be detrimental to the goals and desires you have for your life. So I very much liked the acting in this movie and the character relationship between the brothers but there were lots of things that needed to be fixed. For one, this over two hrs long and you definitely feel it. Not as action packed as a lot of viewers I think expected, this movie can feel very drool at times. This movie relies heavily on the back of Hardy to carry the film and because of how good he is, the audience will continue to sit through and wait for it to get better. Sadly though, it really won't. Overall, this movies only redeeming and memorable quality is Tom Hardy. Without it, the movie would've been a complete bust.
