Avengers Assemble: Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 was written and directed by Shane Black who we all recognize from the recent "Predator" film and "Lethal Weapon" from 100 years ago. Enter: plot.
Well, after my rants about how terrible of a hero Iron Man is, finally, we get a movie that focuses on Tony and not the stupid suit. And I think the only reason Shane Black did so was because that's what Chris Nolan did in "The Dark Knight Rises." But the definite highlight is the focus of Tony as a character post "The Avengers" and the medical issues, like anxiety, that plagues Tony. The first two acts are wonderful.
In each of these movies, there seems to be an advancement of Tony's tech and here the suit flys to him. But when he gives his home address to a terrorist, his house is blown up and he is stuck in Tennessee with a small child and no suit.
Everything in Tennessee is great. When the kid is first introduced, your brain immediately goes, "Oh no, I know how this goes. The kid is going to tag along." Then Tony takes the kid's Dora watch and says, "Beat it kid," And drives away and its wonderful.
But then there is that middle chunk where he goes to Home Depot and builds some tech. That's wonderful because Tony is finally the underdog again. And that leads to wonderful action scenes that don't involve the stupid suit at all. Then he meets the Mandarin, the terrorist, where it's revealed that the Mandarin is really a hoax. Again, that's so wonderful. It's such a clever twist on the worthless villain and made for a more entertaining film, overall.
My issue with the film is at the very end when 90 Iron Men suits come to fight which leads to a special effects nightmare that lasts twenty minutes. Honesty, it is very excessive, but due to the scarcity of giant special effects sequences throughout the film, the ending isn't that bothersome. However, still excessive.
Pepper also continues to be a worthless character in this series and here she is just the girl. I suppose she turns into a superhero for a few minutes, but it was needless.
This is probably the best Iron Man film from an entertainment and structural standpoint and closes the book, good enough, on the Iron Man solo movies.
