Movie 43
/"Excuse me, I'm gonna go do some Batman-ing."
Filmology Rating: 1.25 out of 4
I feel the best way to talk about this film will be to go over each segment of the film one by one.
1. The Catch - This segment stars both Kate Winslet and Hugh Jackman, Winslet decides to go on a blind date and after meeting her date, Jackman, she realizes that his balls are on his neck. I found that concept rather unfunny. So the skit goes on too long and becomes painful not only to my eyes but to my ears as well.
Segment 1 Rating: Let It Burn
2. Homeschooled - Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts are talking to their neighbors about homeschooling their son, Kevin. They are explaining to their neighbors that they want to give Kevin the complete high school experience full of bullying and partying. It is rather funny to see Liev and Naomi completely humiliate their son. The skit is short enough that is won't overly offend but still might upset some homeschooling families.
Segment 2 Rating: See It
3. The Proposition - The less said about this one the better. It stars Anna Faris and Chris Pratt.
Segment 3 Rating: Let It Burn
4. Veronica - Kieran Culkin and Emma Stone star as ex-boyfriend and girlfriend. Culkin is working a late night shift at a grocery store when Stone comes in and begins to argue with Culkin. The conversation soon turns into flirtation mixed with sexual comments. While the actual skit is not long it seems to take hours to get through.
Segment 4 Rating: Skip It
5. iBabe - Richard Gere is the development head at an MP3 company, in which the MP3 player is a nude life-sized plastic woman. The company is having problems about where the fan is placed and is facing a lawsuit from many teenage boys. For some reason I laughed a lot at this. Is the joke a bit sexiest? Of course it is, but I still found myself laughing at it.
Segment 5 - See It
6. Superhero Speed Dating - This skit features Justin Long as Robin and Jason Sudeikis as Batman. Long is finally trying to get out of Batman's shadow and find himself a date. Unfortunately Batman has other plans in mind. The skit goes a little too long and pushes the Robin is gay joke too far. Would anyone in 2013 have a problem with a gay Batman and Robin anyway?
Segment 6 - Skip It
7. Machine Kids - All I can remember about this is that it's a fake PSA. Since it left not lasting impression on me, even after just watching the film, I cannot say that it is horrible nor is it good.
Segment 7 Rating: Skip It
8. Middleschool Date - Chloe Grace Moretz and Jimmy Bennett are newly dating. Christopher Mintz-Plasse shows up as Bennett's older brother as the two newly dating middleschoolers are about to kiss. Moretz then realizes she has started her period and Bennett and Plasse think that she is dying. This segment has the nugget of a good idea but once again the film decides to push it too far. Gross out humor can be funny when it has some taste to it but once you remove all taste from it, it becomes unbearable to watch.
Segment 8 Rating: Skip It
9. Tampax - A fake commercial about a girl who has her period in the ocean and gets eaten by a shark. Of course you could fix this problem by using Tampax. The segment is short and simple. I liked it. We needed more segments like this in the film.
Segment 9 Rating: See It
10. Happy Birthday - Johnny Knoxville captures a leprechaun, played by Gerard Butler, for his roommate Seann William Scott. The two then demand that the leprechaun tells them were his pot of gold is. I laughed at the absurdity of the segment but like this film loves to do, it pushes it too far and I am no longer laughing but only wanting it to end. The good part about this segment is that Butler plays a good leprechaun.
Segment 10 Rating: See It
11. Truth or Dare - Halle Berry and Stephen Merchant are on a first date. Both are tired of the whole first date getting to know each other thing so they decide to challenge each other to a game of truth or dare. This game of truth or dare is in terrible taste and offends so many people I wanted to fast forward this segment because it is unfunny.
Segment 11 Rating: Let It Burn
12. Victory's Glory - In 1959, Terrence Howard is lecturing his basketball team. The team is worried that they will lose but Howard tells them they will win because they are black. The segment has a few tiny moments that made me laugh but overall it lands as a dud.
Segment 12 Rating: Skip It
Normally I would not call the actors out as I have done in this review. I would normally say the characters name instead of the actors but I think it should be known who decided to participate in this film. I think they should all be held accountable for making a film that lacks taste and humor. I do feel that the film has a few laughs but never have I felt so bad about laughing at a film before.

This movie was absolutely atrocious. The humor was crude and unfunny, the acting was all over the place, and the concept just had me confused. Initially, I was hoping the movie could manage to have fourteen shorts flow well, with some intelligence to them. I was sorely mistaken. The transitions are choppy and the ideas are all over the place and completely ridiculous.
