Cars 3

"I used to watch you TV, flying through the air. You seemed so fearless. I wish I knew what that felt like."

Lightning McQueen is not the young racer that he once was. With new technology, faster rookies, and other veteran cars retiring, is this is end for McQueen?

Cars is a wonderful Pixar film. While not being one of their best, it still offers a really fun ride for both kids and adults. Then Cars 2 happened which was quite possibly one of the worst sequels of all time…. Anyway, let’s try and forget that disaster because Cars 3 was the sequel that everyone wanted and deserved.

Bei...ng that it is over 10 years from the first Cars film, the animation has gotten a lot better. One thing that I'm glad they kept was the vibrant colors throughout the film. It is very visually eye catching during the racing scenes but then there were darker color schemes when the tone shifted to more serious notes. This was something that I really was impressed with!

I just have to say something that I think a lot of people might be thinking…. THANK GOD THERE WAS LESS MATER! Less is more when it comes to this guy. He is funny and cute in small portions but he almost single handedly ruined the second film because of how much screen time he was given. He was in this film the right amount; just enough to still be a character that has a presence but not enough to annoy you.

The theme of McQueen getting older and having to adjust to the times is one that kids will like but also one that parents can relate to even more. How do you move on and keep trying even when you're not in your prime anymore? The way that this theme was discussed and portrayed throughout was actually surprisingly deep and emotion which was something I did not expect but really enjoyed. I won’t spoil the ending but I will say this, it is something that Marvel and DC can look at in the future….

Overall, I really liked Cars 3. This was the sequel that should have happened! While not quite as good as the first, it was still very enjoyable.
