The Call

"It's already done!"

Filmology Rating: 1.5 out of 4

There’s nothing specifically awful about this movie, it’s just kind of everything.  The plot was bad, the acting was mediocre, even the twist was poorly fleshed out.  Our villain (Michael Eklund as Michael) is not explained well, our victim (Abigail Breslin as Casey) is confusing, and our hero (Halle Berry as Jordan) is morally ambiguous, but not in an anti-hero kind of way.  The exposition wasn’t bad, but the second act lost my interest, and the third did nothing to regain it, even ruining the movie for me.  Jordan’s emotional turmoil was the most convincing thing about the movie, more so than Casey’s or Michael’s.  The Call is not worth your theater money, but could be worth a free rental.
