Zoolander is one of favorite “cult” classics. It had so much humor throughout the entire film. The script was humorous and well written, the characters were loveable, and while it may seem like a stupid movie, it was stupid for a purpose and it worked. Zoolander 2 however was just plain stupid. It took them 15 years to make this!?! How did it take you this long to make a movie that turned out this poorly? Alright, so Zoolander and Hansel are no longer in the modeling business after a tragic accident that sent both of them into reclusion. Zoolander since has also had his son taken away from him by child protective services. When Zoolander and Hansel have a chance to enter into the modeling business again, it soon becomes apparent that there is a hidden agenda behind the offer. Now to me, this is a decent plot with some potential. However, it just never reaches the level that I wanted it to. First off, I don't feel like Zoolander ever needed a sequel. Why would you want to ruin a good thing? Whereas the first movie was stupid for a reason, this movie just came across as very dull, not humorous, and stupid without a cause. The script just wasn’t that funny when they wanted it to be and there were so many random things thrown into the movie for the hell of it. Many times I was just shaking my head and wondering what the heck is going on and when is it going to get better. The amount of random celebrity cameo appearances made me double take quite a bit. Oh you're in this movie and oh wait, you're in this movie too? Sometimes it worked for the film and sometimes it didn’t. Now one thing that I felt they did a decent job with was that they kept the characters of Zoolander and Hansel consistent with the first film. They are just as dumb as ever and both offer us occasions to laugh at just how dumb they are. That is what the original movie was all about so this film is consistent with that idea. Those laughs however were few and far between which was extremely disappointing. However other than that, this movie has very little to offer. Will Ferrell’s Mugatu character wasn’t as funny as he was in the first movie and the character Kristen Wiig played was one of the worst characters I have ever seen. All in all, this entire movie was a major letdown and I'm going to pretend it never happened.
