Le Petite Prince, or The Tiny Prince, is based off a book published in 1943 by Antonie de Saint-Exupery. It has become one of the most widely read and published books around the globe getting translated into over 250 languages. I myself am not much of a reader…… however this is one of the books that I have read and I have actually read it several times. This is saying something! This book is one of my favorites and it always moves me in a very emotional way. I was so excited when I found out they were making this into a movie! Originally released in Europe last year, it came out directly on Netflix on Friday and I couldn’t wait to watch it.

For those of you who aren’t aware what this story is about, The Tiny Prince is all about growing up. When adults grow up, we seem to forget this childlike wonder and imagination that we grew up on. We tend to fall into a rut and forget to enjoy the simple things in life. “That anything essential is invisible to the eye”. Saint-Exupery believed that “The Little Prince is a book for children written for grown-ups”. (Quotes from Saint-Exupery either in the book or about the book)

This review is going to be short and sweet because I really don't want to give away too much. I want you guys to watch this movie and discover something for yourself. What I can tell you is that this movie did an excellent job of staying true to the book and the things that it added worked extremely well. It always stayed on track of the direction and the emotion that the book wanted it to go. Along with the emotion, I have to say that the animation was superb. I loved how everything looked and especially the difference in the animation between real life and The Little Prince story. See for yourself because it really was neat to see.

I just have to say that I loved this movie so much and I will for sure be recommending it to anyone and everyone. I had the urge to rewatch it right after finishing it. I didn’t think that anything could top Zootopia for best animated film of the year but this is right up there and will give it a run for its money (and Zootopia made a ton of that). Please Netflix this movie because not only is it a fantastic animated film, but there are some great life lessons in there as well that we all need to remember.
