The Disaster Artist, James Franco true-story of aspiring but struggling actors brings to like the true story of filmmaker and infamous Hollywood outsider Tommy Wiseau, an artist whose passion was as sincere as his methods were questionable. This film is based on Greg Sestero best-selling book about the making of Tommy's cult-classic The Room, which has been called the greatest bad movie ever made.

For those of you wh/o have not seen The Room, you are missing out. It is one of the best movies you'll ever see! The movie is a disaster, there’s no denying that. From start to finish, it is a train wreck and hard to watch at first but as the film unfolds, something deeper can be discovered. Even though the film is an utter mess, you will discover that is the beauty of it!

Tommy Wiseau has been told that he will never make it in Hollywood because he either is too different, or that he talks funny, or that his acting is no good, but most likely they told him all three. After enough doors close, one more opens when he and his close friend Greg Sestero (played by Dave Franco) decide to make their own movie. These guys are tired of hearing no all of the time so they created their own yes. There is something admirable to this is there not!?! This is the American Dream at its core! When life gets you down, you keep fighting and clinging on to the desired goal and if doors keep slamming shut, you get your own damn door and swing it wide open. While The Room is a disaster, it is this pure passion for acting and desire to make a movie no matter what. Because of this passion, this film has raised been raised to cult classic status.

I have heard some critics react negatively towards this film saying why should we celebrate the talentless and the failures? To that I say…. don't people celebrate your birthday every year?

Jokes aside, I get what they are coming from but sometimes the underdog story is far more important the successful outcome. I would also say that even though this movie has been deemed a disaster, people remember it; theaters across the globe sell out when they host this movie on special occasions because people can’t get enough of it. With a reaction such as this, is it really a failure? Even Oscar winners get forgotten but with all honesty, I don't know if The Room ever will be.

Now let’s just talk some of the specifics for a moment. James France starred and directed this film and he was brilliant. Tommy Wiseau himself said that he was fantastic and wouldn’t have chosen anyone else (of course he said that in a very Tommy kind of way). James and Dave Franco were both excellent and characters aside, I loved seeing them work with one another because I’ve been wanted a Franco film for years! The whole cast from Seth Rogan and Allison Brie to a small cameos including Zac Efron, Josh Hutchinson, and more, the ensemble was brilliant.

The Disaster Artist is a hilarious and welcome reminder that there is more than one way to become a legend in Hollywood. Without a doubt, The Room is the best worst film I have ever seen and yet, I will always remember it. The Disaster Artist did an excellent job of bringing this film to light and exposing both the good and the bad that followed this project. Even if you haven’t seen The Room, you should still be able to follow along to this film quite easily and have a great time as well.
